Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 9, 2026
Summary
Murmur processes all voice data locally on your Mac. No audio or text is sent to any server unless you explicitly configure an LLM endpoint.
Data Collection
Murmur does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. There are no analytics, no tracking, and no telemetry.
Voice Data
All speech recognition is performed offline using the SenseVoice model running on your device. Your voice recordings and transcriptions never leave your Mac.
LLM Polish (Optional)
If you enable LLM text polishing, your transcribed text (not audio) is sent to the API endpoint you configure. Murmur does not control or monitor this connection. Choose a provider whose privacy policy you trust.
Local Storage
Configuration, dictation history, and hotwords are stored locally at ~/Library/Application Support/com.murmurtype/. This data is never transmitted externally.
Open Source
Murmur is open source under the MIT license. You can inspect the full source code at github.com/hssstg/murmur to verify these claims.
